Your first session will begin with what's called an intake. It's a time for us to meet, get to know each other, and you'll have the opportunity to share your background, any specific concerns you're facing, and what inspired you to seek therapy.
I'll ask some questions and give you a survey to best understand what symptoms you’re experiencing and learn about other indicators of your mental health, like your sleep habits, employment status, and any substance use, etc., in order to get a fuller picture of you and your life. With a better understanding of you and your needs, we can then tailor your care and follow on sessions to what feels most supportive for you.
Most clients transition into weekly therapy appointments tailored to their individual needs. I draw upon a wide range of therapeutic modalities and techniques which I will blend to support your goals. These include traditional methods like talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as experiential approaches such as Gestalt, somatic/body-focused therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Art Therapy. For clients navigating trauma, I incorporate evidence-based practices like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Progressive Counting. This integrative approach allows me to offer a deeply personalized and effective therapeutic experience and meet you where you are in your healing journey.
